Subject to anti-dumping duties! Is mainland beer on the rise?
2025-10-11
On the shelves of Taiwan stores, we can find that some of the eoe beer is produced in Chinese Mainland. In fact, the import of mainland beer has increased year by year in recent years, which may affect the survival space of Taiwan brands. The Customs Affairs Department of the Ministry of Finance of Taiwan has also made a heavy effort to levy anti-dumping duties of up to 51.94% on related products. However, whether Budweiser, Kirin and other brands have increased their prices has not been officially announced by the industry, and it is reported that internal discussions are ongoing.
Cheers and stir up the atmosphere. Do you know where the beer commonly found on Taiwanese dining tables comes from? On the shelf of the store, turn the beer upside down. It looks like Budweiser, an American brand, or Kirin, a Japanese brand. In fact, some beer is produced in Chinese Mainland. Besides the price advantage, it affects the survival space of Taiwan brands. In conclusion, the proportion of beer in Chinese Mainland in imports can be said to be increasing year by year. In the first half of 2025, it has soared to 70%, with the overall market share reaching about 39%, surpassing the market share of Taiwan beer by 36%.
Taiwanese restaurant operator Zhuang Xihong said, "Restaurant customers ordering Taiwanese beer account for about 65%, while Kirin and Budweiser account for about 35%. Regarding Kirin and Budweiser, we have not received any information about price increases yet
Looking back at the official website of Kirin, a statement was issued in June expressing respect for policy adjustments and a commitment to reducing the impact of policies on prices. However, there is currently no latest statement available. In addition, although there have been reports in print media that the Southern Union International Trade, which represents beer series such as Budweiser, Snow Mountain, and Corona, will transfer the origin of their products and adjust their prices, actual inquiries have been made, and the industry has clarified that there is no latest announcement and it is still under internal discussion. At this stage, we haven't received any news about the beer price increase yet. The promotion is based on the schedule
However, will beer produced in Taiwan take advantage of the situation to lower prices and seize market share? The Taiwan Brewers Association stated that it depends on individual member companies, such as Taiwan's Heineken, which maintains its original selling price. How the beer market will change in the future is of concern to all sectors.
