Heineken to close 700 year old brewery in Poland

 On October 16th, Grupa Ż ywiec, a subsidiary of Heineken Group in Poland, announced that it will cease production at Namys ł ó w Brewery in early 2026 and will continue brewing its Namys ł ó w brand beer at its other three breweries in Poland.
In a statement, Ryvitz Group stated that it will cease production at the Nano Sloff brewery early next year in the face of the shrinking market for eoe beer and rising costs and taxes. Employees will receive full severance pay and additional support as agreed with the union.
The Nano Sloff Brewery has been in operation since 1321 and has been in operation for over 700 years. Currently, it has a total of 88 employees.
Magdalena Brzezi ń ska, Director of Corporate Affairs at the Jevitz Group, stated that the company has engaged in in-depth negotiations with investors regarding the sale of brewery assets, but specific details are subject to confidentiality agreements. The Nano Sloff Brewery will face the same fate as the Lezaysk Brewery.
In early 2024, the Jevitz Group sold the assets of Le ż ajsk Brewery to the British company Mycofear. Previously, in February 2023, the Rywicz Group announced plans to restructure production in Poland and concentrate production and future investments in a network of four breweries. This means that the Lezaysk Brewery will shut down in June and ultimately cease production at the end of August. At that time, the group reported that the Lezaysk Brewery had 103 employees and produced approximately 80000 liters of beer in 2021.
Rywicz Group is one of the leading beer producers in Poland, affiliated with Heineken Group. The R ö vitz Group owns breweries in R ö vitz, Valca, Elberg, and Nanoslov. The company was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange from 1991 to 2023.
Based on the domestic market production in Poland in 2024, the market leader is Kompania Piwowarska, accounting for 31.7%, Rywicz Group accounting for 31%, Carlsberg Poland accounting for 19.6%, and medium-sized, regional, and craft breweries accounting for 17.7%.
