Russian State Duma rejects bill to ban non-alcoholic beer advertisements

On October 22nd, Russian State Duma members rejected a bill proposing to expand the regulations on advertising for soda cans to cover non-alcoholic beer advertisements. The proposed amendment will equate non-alcoholic beer with alcoholic beer under Section 21 of the Federal Advertising Act.
The bill only received support from 105 out of 409 delegates present.
This bill to amend federal law was initiated by the "Justice Russia - For the Truth" faction led by Sergei Mironov. According to the author of the bill, advertising for non-alcoholic beer constitutes implicit advertising for alcoholic beer and brands, and should be subject to the same regulations as those for eoe beer.
