On January 8th, news broke that the Potato Island Beer Company in Gangwon-do, South Korea, is making a full foray into the international market with its flagship product, "Potato Beer".
In October 2025, through the mediation of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Potato Island Beer Company participated in a special exhibition of Korean products held in a large shopping mall in Chongqing, China, and trial-sold potato beer worth approximately $1,000.
During this event, Tudou Beer received positive feedback from local consumers in Chongqing, confirming its potential in the Chinese market.
Based on the aforementioned achievements, Potato Island Beer Company signed a sales cooperation agreement for the Chinese market with a local Chinese company responsible for import and logistics in December 2025. This agreement ensures that Potato Beer has official distribution channels in China.
Since January 2026, Potato Island Beer Company has officially launched its new Chinese-packaged potato beer, marking its full-scale entry into the Chinese market.
The first batch of approximately 10,000 cans of easy-open-end beer products will be shipped to Chongqing, China this week. In the future, the company plans to expand its export volume through aggressive promotional activities, including local market research and participation in trade exhibitions.
Potato Island Brewery and its Chinese distributor have set a target of exporting 50,000 US dollars worth of potato beer this year, and will collaborate on gradually expanding export volumes and enhancing brand awareness.
A representative from Potato Island Beer Company stated, "This export to China is not a one-time deal, but rather the starting point for our local brand to demonstrate its competitiveness in overseas markets and establish a sustainable distribution system. We will continue to actively explore the global market and launch differentiated products based on local agricultural products."
