On January 15th, it was reported that the beer sales of Japan's three major beer companies (Kirin, Suntory, and Sapporo, excluding Asahi Breweries) in 2025 increased by 2% compared to 2024.

All companies raised the prices of easy-open-end canned beer in the spring of 2025, leading to a restraint in consumer spending.

However, with the tax rates for beer, sparkling wine, and the third category of beer set to be unified in October 2026, companies are racing to launch new products, driving strong growth in beer sales.

It is expected that companies will capitalize on this favorable beer sales situation and continue to launch a series of strengthening strategies.

Meanwhile, Asahi Breweries postponed the release of sales data due to system malfunctions caused by a cyber attack in September 2025.

Therefore, the data currently released by Asahi Beer is only a rough estimate, but it shows that sales in December 2025 decreased by about 20%.
