On October 19th, CU Convenience Store announced that it will launch its third craft beer, "Seoul Hops Wheat Beer," co brewed with Seoul Brewery and Breweries (숅익는집과) on October 21st.
Seoul Hops Wheat Beer is bottled in 500ml bottles with an alcohol content of 5.2%. This is a wheat beer with a strong hop flavor, which adds hop flavor to the traditional German wheat beer. It retains the unique banana, fruit, and hop aromas of wheat yeast, with a smooth and refreshing taste.
In order to increase people's interest in Korean craft beer, CU has partnered with beer blogger "Mingpin Maide" to launch the "KCBC Ultra Fresh Beer Plan" on its own e-commerce platform Pocket CU. The plan is to launch a beer every month that showcases the unique style and brewing philosophy of local breweries in South Korea.
Signature beers from small breweries across South Korea are sold through a reservation system. Consumers can go to any CU store nationwide to pick up their goods within seven days after production. This month, to celebrate Dokdo Day, Yuling Brewery's "Dokdo Swimming Lag" was unveiled as an ultra fresh beer.
Last March, CU launched a customized easy to pull beer with a photo of a pet dog printed on the label. This beer, called 'Seoul Partner Czech Black Beer', is brewed in collaboration between Seoul Brewery and Budvar beer in the Czech Republic. It will be available for sale at CU stores and other sales points starting this month.
