Irina Kazovskaya, President of the Russian Aluminum Association, stated that aluminum packaging is facing the threat of a 13 fold increase in ecological tax rates, which will lead to a packaging cost increase of over 6%. This will reduce the competitiveness of Russian aluminum packaging products with products from the Eurasian Economic Union countries and China. Furthermore, such a significant increase in tax rates is illogical, as aluminum packaging is fully recyclable and there is no shortage of recycling capacity.
