The first national canned food technology and trade evaluation base has settled in Zhangzhou
Southeast Network, August 14th (Fujian Daily Press Group reporter Xiao Zhenping, correspondent Zheng Yiping, Xu Fangxin) On August 13th, the National TBT/SPS Notification and Consultation Center (Zhangzhou) Canned Food Technical Trade Measures Research and Evaluation Base (hereinafter referred to as the "Canned Food Technical Trade Evaluation Base") was established and put into operation in Zhangzhou. This is the first national level technical trade measure research and evaluation base focusing on the field of canned food in China, marking a new stage of systematization and specialization for China's canned food industry to cope with international technical barriers and enhance international competitiveness.
As an important gathering place for the national canned food industry, Zhangzhou has a complete industrial chain from raw material cultivation, processing to export, and is known as the "capital of canned food in China". From January to July this year, the export value of canned food in Zhangzhou reached 790 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%. The products were exported to 128 countries and regions including ASEAN, EU, and Canada. The export value of four types of canned food, including bamboo shoots, lychee, peanuts, and longan, ranked first in the country. Zhangzhou canned food has become a shining business card in China's international trade.
However, in recent years, non-tariff barriers in the form of technical regulations, agreements, standards, and certification systems have increasingly affected the normal international trade of canned products, becoming a "hidden threshold" for China's easy to open lid canned food enterprises to go global.
With the continuous upgrading of global food safety standards and the increasing technical barriers to trade (TBT/SPS), major importing countries (regions) have increasingly stringent requirements for the environmental performance and sterilization process compliance of food contact materials. Our country's canned food export enterprises are facing practical challenges such as asymmetric technology and trade information, insufficient technological transformation capabilities, and high response costs. ”Lin Kunhui, Executive Vice Chairman of the Canned Food Professional Committee of the China Food Industry Association and President of Zhangzhou Food Science and Technology Application Research Institute, said.
In the past, our company often dealt with foreign notifications alone, with relatively closed information and scattered resources, which easily led to missing market opportunities. Tang Jin, Vice President of Tongfa Food Group, said that canned food companies urgently need a high-level platform to provide professional, systematic, and real-time technical and trade guidance in order to further establish a foothold and grow stronger on the world stage.
Under the joint call of numerous canned food export enterprises in Zhangzhou, the canned food technology and trade evaluation base has emerged.
It is reported that the Canned Food Technology and Trade Evaluation Base is jointly established by the Standardization Center of the General Administration of Customs, Xiamen Customs, Zhangzhou Municipal Government, the School of Biological Science and Technology of Minnan Normal University, Zhangzhou Food Science and Technology Application Research Institute, Zhangzhou Canned Food Chamber of Commerce, and key canned food enterprises. It brings together various forces such as the government, universities, research institutions, and industry associations to build an integrated collaborative mechanism of "customs industry, academia, and research", positioning itself as "based in Zhangzhou, serving the whole country, and radiating globally", focusing on the field of canned food exports, and providing full chain technical and trade measures and response services for enterprises.
Yan Wenqing, the head of the Second Department of Product Supervision at Zhangzhou Customs, said that the canned food technology and trade evaluation base will provide "one-on-one" risk warning and response plans for enterprises, helping the canned food industry gradually achieve a leap from passive response to active breakthrough to rule guidance, and making "Zhangzhou style" and even "Chinese style" canned food sell well in the global market.
